Do you remember, or have you heard of, the classic American comedy drama TV series titled MASH?

Set in the Korean war, MASH stands for Mobile Army Surgical Hospital and featured Alan Alda as surgeon ‘Hawkeye’ and Loretta Switt as head nurse ‘Hotlips’ Houlihan.
The opening sequence always featured Bell 47 helicopters flying patients in for treatment to the classic tune of ‘Suicide is Painless’.

Well, we have one of these amazing vintage helicopters here at Whizzard, so you now have the opportunity to take a pleasure flight and we also offer the opportunity to actually fly in one under the watchful eye of our senior instructor, see our taster lessons page for more information.

The views are incredible – nearly 360 degrees through that huge, big, bubble of a cockpit. Step back into a part of aviation history, back to the time when flying was a seat of the pants art. You’ll love it!

And would you believe it, the callsign of this helicopter is actually G-MASH.
