Former students of Stowe School or Old Stoics as they are referred to include Sir Richard Branson, actors David Niven and Henry Cavill of Superman fame, Prince Rainier of Monaco, Christopher Robin Milne, son of A. A. Milne, along the many numerous politicians, diplomats, athletes, actors, musicians and Aristocrats. The Silverstone circuit is on the site of a World War II Royal Air Force bomber station, RAF Silverstone, which opened in 1943, look closely and you can still see the three runways from this time. The British Grand Prix was first hosted here in 1948.
