As you take off from Barton the skyline of Manchester will come into view, the second city of the UK and the world’s first industrial city, it is characterised by its red brick buildings. You will have a bird’s eye view of some of its most famous landmarks. First you will fly over the Trafford Centre, where you can shop til you drop, people have been know to get lost in here for days! Nearby is Old Trafford Cricket Ground home of the Lancashire cricket club since 1864, and Old Trafford football ground home to Manchester United. HM prison Manchester formerly Strangeways, is a grade II listed building which cost £170, 000 to build, its walls are rumoured to be 16ft thick. It was the scene of the fastest hanging in Britain in 1951, 7 seconds! Among some of its famous inmates are Ian Brady and David Dickinson! Then it’s over to the Etidhad Stadium home of Manchester City, before heading back to Barton listen into the radio to hear the traffic at Manchester Airport, the busiest outside London.
